Fashion and sports will seem to emerge this spring season of 2012. Browsing on Style.Com, I've read a page wherein the fashion trend report for the year is being forecast. One of the said trends is the Game On. Well, this trend is about the combo of style and sports (some with embroidery digitizing design on them). According to Style.com; sport emerged as one of this season’s biggest themes in New York, with parachute strap dresses at Altuzarra and sleek track pants from the boys at Rag & Bone. Alexander Wang’s mesh bombers, floral hoodies, and stadium map sweaters may look ready for the playing field, but we guarantee you’ll be seeing them on the street-style highlight reel come spring. Tebowing: A Craze or a Contempt

Ever heard of Tim Tebow?

Tim Tebow is an American football player who is currently the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL). He was homeschooled by his mother and his father is a pastor. No wonder that he is very vocal on his faith as well as he really didn't compromise his beliefs. He is famous for the new pose craze nowadays called tebowing. Planking, tea potting, owling, batting, and horsemanning were so over and the new is tebowing craze since people have noticed Tim Tebow kneeling and praying before and after the game. "Tebowing" is a neologism derived from Tebow's propensity for kneeling and praying. The origin of the phrase is credited to fan Jared Kleinstein, who posted a picture with friends on Facebook, in which they mimic a pose by Tebow that was caught on camera following the Broncos' improbable overtime victory over the Dolphins on October 23, 2011. The popularity of the picture led Kleinstein to set up a website showing pictures submitted by people depicting various interpretations of "Tebowing" all over the world. In December 2011, the life-sized wall adhesions company Fathead released a "tebowing" sticker which generated $50,000 in revenue in two days. Whoa!

Personally speaking, I'm proud of Tim Tebow. Unlike the other so called Christian, he amidst the sea of faces of people have all the guts to show and proudly say that he is a Christian. His kneeling and praying is just an addition to his being a good athlete and a person. He is still active on missions. He even has a Tim Tebow foundation, eh. His official website has also a verse from the Bible; John 3:16; an evangelical verse.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

As for his critics, hmmm they have the freedom anyway to criticize him. However my only appeal is that there are a lot of athletes that are more worthy to be criticized for a bad action taken, yet the irony is they are focusing on Tim Tebow who is just practicing his belief and this person is actually not doing them any harm. Such an irony, eh.

P.S. Taking aside this Tim Tebow issue, I've read today that the United Kingdom Anti-Doping Association warned athletes to avoid foods that will make an athlete test positive on a drug screening. Would you believe that the top of that list is liver? Liver is said to increase the risk of an athlete testing positive for anabolic agent clenbuterol. Oh, don’t know what is the meaning of this but I’d rather ask my friend nurse in scrub uniforms about this.

The Food Standard Agency, a British government agency (either in scrub uniforms or not) similar to the Food and Drug Administration in the U.S., advised athletes against eating liver.

The FSA cannot rule out the possibility that if a large portion of liver is consumed containing clenbuterol at permitted residue limits, urine collected shortly after consumption may contain detectable levels of clenbuterol. This depends on many factors including the amount consumed, the timing of the urine test and the analytical methods used.

For more info about this, kindly ask your medical practitioner wearing scrub uniforms and lab coats about the foods that may cause clenbuterol.

On Tennis' Wardrobe Malfunction and Rafa's Win

Here are some of the news I've gathered about the tennis world lately:

The bad news:

Venus Williams experienced a wardrobe malfunction during a good-natured exhibition match against Italian tennis player Flavia Pennetta in Milan. The left strap on one of Venus' self-designed eleVen dresses with an embroidery digitizing logo on the upper right side of it, snapped during the match, almost exposing some extra skin to the assembled crowd. But Venus managed to cover up this problem, eh.

The good news:

My favorite tennis player, Rafa wearing his sportswear with his favorite brand embroidery digitizing logo won against Juan Monaco. He had given a great performance here. Take a look:

Stephen John "Steve" Nash, the South African-born Canadian professional basketball player who plays point guard for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association (NBA) has developed his own clothing line called The Steve Nash Collection. Funny, for I seldom see him wearing coat and tie, yet his clothing line apparels are made up of ties, cufflinks and other formal menswear. Eric Freeman even says that "The Steve Nash Collection should be a thin T-shirt, cargo shorts, and Toms shoes." Ironically, it is the opposite.haha.

For almost two months, I've been in a hiatus with regards on writing on this blog. I’ve always want to write especially when Nadal, my favorite tennis player, failed to won over Djokovic, yet there are so many things that hindered me on posting some updates on this blog. Nevertheless, now I'm back!

The sports world is quite full of men who dominate it, yet we can't deny the fact that there are also many women athletes that many people idolize (even at the point of wearing their custom digitizing jersey logos) and they are also newsworthy as well. Women viewers for instance are seen by Forbes.com as a powerful audience to see what sports are “in” into feminine tastes. What Happened to Wimbledon Tournament 2011?

The Wimbledon Tournament is over, and here am I, going to post about what I observed and read that are actually peculiar during the tournament. Anyway, here is a glimpse of some news that I found as bizarre.

Let's start with styles and fashion of the players.

I admire Mattek-Sands for bringing up a fashion surprise in Wimbledon, which of course we all know that have all white fashion (just like the nurses in white uniforms scrubs and Dickies uniforms). During her first- round match, she wore a white bolero jacket with spikes and cut-outs of white tennis balls. Take a look.

Now, let’s take another look on another player’s fashion style. It’s not actually a real surprise when Venus Williams wore another non-flattering sportswear tiny playsuit. The white onesie was so short you could clearly see the golden hotpants she was wearing underneath every time she bent forwards during the match. It also had a curiously baggy, and very unflattering top-half, which made her chest look saggy as she ran around the court.

And speaking of fashion and style, the gorgeous Maria Sharapova was seen recreating and posing like the iconic Athena poster after the wind caught her mini-dress. Whew! Hot!

Speaking of hot, hot indeed was Feliciano Lopez's feud against Justin Gimelstob. This is because Gimelstob had said a hot comment over Lopez looks.

"I think Feliciano is a great player, but he certainly loves to look in the mirror. And it's okay to do it, he's a very attractive man. People always talk about women, but he is tall, handsome, with a good body. Very metrosexual, yes. But not only him, his style of tennis is also attractive."

The last news of course is about the winner of the Wimbledon tournament. I happen to be a fan of Rafa, so I'm sad that he didn't win. However, I'm satisfied that it is Novak Djokovic who beat him. It is not a shock for Djokovic is already the 2nd best and it is natural in the world of tennis and even in any sports that no single person or nationality has the monopoly of the trade especially on the tennis world. But what is bizarre, was the moment that Djokovic won, he ate grass from the playing field and found the taste of grass was good and quite well. Talking about animalistic behaviour, huh. However many men and women in Dickies uniforms and uniforms scrubs definitely disagree with his action. hehe. Obviously they are alarmed by the nutrients of the grass.

“We eat things from the grass family, things like wheat, barley and oats, but we tend to eat the seeds. Lawn grass itself, we cannot digest. The "Williams sisters," which refers to Venus Williams and Serena Williams had amazingly smashed the tennis world with both their names written on the history of the said sport as the siblings who are already considered as the two of the bests. Let's take a look at both of their profiles, eh.

The former World No.1 tennis player and currently the World No.10 despite the foot injury she has for quite a year. Still she managed to be considered to be one of the greatest women's tennis players of all-time in a career hampered by numerous injuries.

In 2002, there was much talk when she wore a black lycra catsuit at the US Open. At Wimbledon in 2008, the white trench coat she wore during warm-up for her opening match was the subject of much discussion since it was worn despite the sunny weather. Williams is known for much more than just her punishing serves. She has always taken to the court with loud outfits. Some are delightful in their color. Others are a bit off putting for the tackiness. You have to respect that she has a style of her own though.

Not discounting her skills on the tennis court but her outfits which are becoming shorter as she grows older is something else. No doubt Venus Williams’ is a great tennis player but her fashion sense is something that can be remedied. Looking back on interviews with her about her sport wear apparel I would say she really makes it a point to amaze people, some may say she wants to grab the attention and in this she succeeds. But, not all her sportswear outfits are controversial. Some of them, especially when she was younger, looked really great on her.

The video of the famous quarterback Tom Brady dancing at the Carnival struck to me the fact that, we, humans are not really born perfect. Brady had it all, a good career, being one of the most famous man wearing sports clothing, a beautiful wife, money, fame (due to his hair) and even good looks. Serena Williams, the famous woman who wears sports apparel for the tennis world, was hospitalized for pulmonary embolism after she walked the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party.

What is Pulmonary Embolism?According to the L.A. Times pulmonary embolism are blood clots in the arteries of the lungs — and they often originate in the legs, travelling up to the lungs.

The former World No.1 of tennis game "underwent emergency treatment at Cedars for a hematoma she suffered as a result of treatment for a more critical situation."

This was the statement from Ms Williams after the incident:

"Thank you everyone for all of your prayers, concerns, and support. This has been extremely hard, scary, and disappointing. I am doing better, I'm at home now and working with my doctors to keep everything under control. I know I will be ok, but am praying and hoping this will all be behind me soon. While I can't make any promises now on my return, I hope to be back by early summer. That said, my main goal is to make sure I get there safely."

Hope she gets well soon. The tennis world will always wait for her return. :)

Meanwhile, another woman of tennis, Maria Sharapova, change her clothes from sports apparel to a fashionable one for the March edition of Russian Tattler, where she will be featured.

Based from her, the shoot was done "months ago," and that "we tried to do something very different. I hope you enjoy it."

She looks amazingly beautiful yet some of her dresses on that mag are not that gorgeous to behold.

The Australian Open has finally "opened"! With Rafael Nadal and Caroline Wozniacki holding the title for the World's top ranked tennis player, the matches and games that will be going to happen will be a great and anticipating sight to see. In the meantime, however, Roger Federer, the former World's no. 1 and now No. 2 tennis player, men division, had been with an easy match and easy game, winning against Lukas Lacko, making him the number one competitor of Rafa. While Wozniacki in her gorgeous sportswear, played her first Grand Slam with the No. 1 ranking, has advanced to the second round of the Australian Open with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Gisela Dulko of Argentina.

Speaking of Wozniaki's sportswear, unlike her gray armadillo dress last US open, she is now wearing Stella McCartney-designed ballerina dress. Tennis player in a ballerina dress, eh. Though the sportswear dress is more feminine than her dress last US open, it earned disapproval too, especially from some sports and fashion bloggers throughout the web. Let me quote one of those critics:

But then I looked again and saw the ridiculous waistline, which is jacked up Urkel-style and appears to be inspired by the edge of a birthday cake. (McCartney says she wanted the waistline to "redefine and challenge traditional sports silhouettes.") And then there's the pleating and the blood orange wrist bands. It's not bad, per se, but it's not exactly flattering either.

Let me remind you, dear readers, that tennis game is not just about sports but style nowadays. Remember the criticism on Serena Williams’s sportswear or her sister’s dress? Well, the siblings didn’t mind anyway. Though personally speaking, I didn’t mind the dress too, but the play. The play and the game matters most. The Famous "Scorpion kick"

The "Scorpion kick" is one of the hardest kicks to pull off in a game of soccer. It has the general concept of a bicycle kick, kicking a ball that is in front of you from going into goal, but in different form. It was created by Colombian goalkeeper, Rene Huigita (El Loco).This save earned him notoriety when he pulled it off in a friendly game against England in September 1995, blocking a shot by Jamie Redknapp. It ranked 94th in Channel 4's 100 Greatest Sporting Moments in 2002.

Just recently however in the 82nd minute of a 1-1 match against Moroccan league leaders OCK Marrakech, Boudlal pulled off a one-legged version of the scorpion. And it worked. He has great guts, eh.

Yesterday I watched how the legendary Manny Pacquiao once again beat another opponent of his, Margarito, who left the fight with too much damage that his eyes are half closed, enough to bring him to people wearing scrubs uniforms. Yes Margarito was defeated but he has gained my respect and salute.

Actually at some point of the game I was hesitant to say that Manny will win because Margarito is in no doubt a very worthy opponent and a very strong one. I also thought that he will be defeated in KO, but I was also wrong.

As usual it's another victorious night for Pacquiao who just won 8 categories in boxing...the only boxer who has done that so far. Indeed it is not shocking news that there are many boxing analysts and enthusiasts who consider Pacquiao as the best boxer of his era. Shame to Mayweather, eh.

Personally speaking, I still love Ali. But in flexibility and style, it's Pacquiao in sportswear uniforms that I adore..a congressman, singer, actor, a philanthropist...what more could you ask for?

Supposedly I am going to post those disappointing NFL teams this season however, as I look on my blog, I happened to realize that all posts that I have here only revolves on football and tennis games. So I decided to post about my favourite kind of sports-chess-. She is a Philippine born Australian chess player who achieved the FIDE Woman International Master title. Caoili began playing chess at the age of six. At one point during 2002, she achieved a FIDE rating in excess of 2300, but this has been in decline since she scaled down her chess activities to concentrate on her studies. Nevertheless, she remains one of Australia's leading women players and played top board for the national team at the Dresden Olympiad in 2008.

Due to an ill-timed bathroom break Ana Ivanovik lose the second game of her match in Austria against Barbora Zahlavova Strycova.

Ivanovic won her serve in the match's first game and then asked the chair umpire if she could take a bathroom break. When her request was denied, Ivanovic pleaded but was told that even though there was a change of sides, she wouldn't be allowed to go before Strycova served. The chair umpire said she'd have to go on her own time. To Ivanovic, that meant at that instant. She walked off the court and into the player's locker room. When she emerged a few minutes later, Ivanovic learned that she had been docked four points during her absence, one for every 20 seconds she went over the time limit. She protested, saying she thought she had permission, but the umpire's ruling stood.

This incident actually caught a stir on the web. Many people symphatize with Miss Ivanovic side and got furious on the umpire. On the other hand the umpire have his good reasons since the game is an official one. But in case of emergency does the rule stand rigid and cannot take considerations? Well, if in case there will be a fire on a certain part of the stadium where the tennis match is happening, will the game be stopped or will the umpire adhere to the rules and let the game continue? Just a thought.

The National Football League announced recently that Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Marisa Miller will become the new spokesperson for the NFL. The Hollywood Reporter confirms exclusively that the supermodel has signed on as the new spokesperson for the NFL's 2010-2011 season.

"I'm so excited to have this incredible opportunity to partner with the NFL," Miller says. "I've grown up watching football my whole life."

A longtime 49ers fan, Miller will appear in both print and commercial ads for the league. The print campaign--shot by Cartel and photographer Brian Bowen -- features Miller in vintage 49ers and Broncos gear to promote the overseas game.

"Marisa's love for the NFL and our sport made her ideally suited for this role," said Chris Parsons, NFL Vice President of International. "We look forward to working with her."

The Victoria Secret model is also looking forward to helping gain new fans and show people how incredible the game of American football is!

Last week cheerleaders in Connecticut begged school officials to help make their uniforms less skimpy. According to the Connecticut Post and NBC Connecticut, Heidi Medina, the captain of Bridgeport Central's cheerleading squad, stood before the Bridgeport Board of Education in her team's standard uniform, which bares athletes midriffs and uses either small shorts or baggy sweatpants as bottoms, to make a statement that it was inappropriate.

Medina and fellow seniors insist that the Central uniforms do not meet regulations that require cheerleader uniforms to cover an athlete's midsection when they stand at attention. "It really hurts our self esteem," Bridgeport Central senior Ariana Mesaros told the Board of Education, according to the Post. "I am embarrassed to stand up here dressed like this. Is this really how you want Bridgeport to be represented?"

As noted by NBC Connecticut, the Bridgeport cheerleaders' plea comes on the heels of a recent study of college cheerleaders, which found that college cheerleaders whose uniforms exposed midriffs faced a significantly higher risk of developing eating disorders.For its part, the Bridgeport Board of Education is moving quickly to quell the controversy, with the assistant superintendent of secondary schools telling the Post that black bodysuits would be purchased for the Central cheerleaders to wear under their uniforms.

Still, the incident raises a troubling disparity between what cheerleaders are expected to look like, and what might be most healthy for them. While the eating disorder study focused on college cheerleaders, there's little doubt that the findings are significant for high school cheerleaders, too.

Whew! I don't think that choosing a uniform could be this hard, with health matters to consider too. How about they just buy cheap uniforms, eh?

Good news for milk lovers! Milk could help athletes more than sports drinks or energy drinks. Researchers are giving scientific support that milk may be just as good or even better than sports drinks for serious athletes recovering from exercise. The health benefits of milk — which has carbohydrates, electrolytes, calcium and vitamin D have long been established. But for athletes in sportswear uniforms and even for those ordinary men and women who just wear workwear uniforms, milk also contains the two proteins best for rebuilding muscles: casein and whey.

The Benefits of Milk on Athletes:

1. Endurance- In a study published in the journal Applied Physiology, Nutrition and Metabolism in June, researchers found people who drank milk after training were able to exercise longer in their next session than people who had sports drinks or water.

2. Regeneration-Muscles get damaged after an intense bout of aerobic exercise like running, playing football, or cycling. The casein and whey proteins in milk are precisely what the body needs to regenerate muscles fast. Glenys Jones, a nutritionist at Britain's Medical Research Council, said milk's protein content makes it an ideal post-exercise drink. "Milk provides the building blocks for what you need to build new muscles," he further said.

3. Recovery- Drinking milk also may help athletes recover quicker if they are performing multiple times in a day. For people who can't stomach the idea of plain milk, experts recommend adding some chocolate or other artificial flavor. At the Beijing Olympics, six-time gold medallist Michael Phelps regularly downed a flavored milk drink in between races.

4. Rehydration- Scientists at Loughborough University have found low-fat milk is better than sports drinks for replacing fluids lost during exercise. Scientists suspect there may be two reasons for that. Not only does milk have a lot of electrolytes, but it is emptied from the stomach more slowly than sports drinks, keeping the body hydrated for longer.

5. Lose of Fat- Milk also may help athletes shed fat and build muscle. In a small Canadian study, experts found women who drank milk after lifting weights gained about 4.4 pounds (2 kilos) of muscle and lost about the same amount of body fat. Women who drank sports drinks put on about 3.3 pounds (1.5 kilos) of muscle but didn't lose any body fat.

Now let's take a look on the disadvantages of milk:

1. Not for Everyone- Catherine Collins, a spokeswoman for the British Dietetic Association and a dietician at London's St. George's Trust, said while milk may be beneficial for elite athletes who burn thousands of calories a day during their intensive training, occasional gym-goers may be better off drinking sports drinks or plain water."If you're just a gym bunny trying to lose a bit of weight, water is probably sufficient after exercise," she said, warning that chocolate milk in particular could add unwanted calories.

2. Hard to Digest- Even those who promote milk as a recovery drink say it cannot entirely replace sports drinks. Because it is harder to digest, people should only drink milk after they are finished exercising, not during. In comparison, sports drinks like Gatorade have easily digestible sugars so athletes can chug it during events to get an instant boost.

The latest issue on yahoo.sports got me thinking about pride and ego. True man's ego and pride could help a lot for man to live a normal life. Without it, a person will live a life of seclusion and fear. On the other hand, the article had given me a glimpse of the truth about how pride affects negatively on people. You see, those people who knew that there is something wrong that is going on within them can't and will not admit their flaws and weakness due from their pride and high ego. Some athletes in sports and team wear for instance have the tendency to believe that they are the strongest and admitting their personal struggles is a sign of vulnerability. And even some doctors wearing hospital uniforms and white scrubs are proud of their intellect to the point that they had been thinking that they are the smartest people and don't need guidance from others since they know what to do with their own health.

But the sad truth is, there is no perfect person. Even if you are an athlete, a doctor or a lawyer-you're still imperfect. Every being have flaws and refusing to admit it will have a bitter consequence. Saying that you are weak is so easy and simple however our pride just makes it difficult. Anyway there is just one lesson that I've learned from the article; that is the consequence of too much pride is our own lives.

Is it a choice to die early? I wonder about this upon reading the news about a boy who happened to die while on a racing competition.

Peter Lenz of Vancouver, Wash., fell off his bike during the warm up lap for Sunday's first race at Indianapolis and was run over by another motorcycle, driven by a 12-year-old. Medical workers in scrubs uniforms immediately placed Lenz in a neck brace, put him on a stretcher and began chest compressions while taking him to a hospital. Several hours later, he was pronounced dead.

At age 11, he was already wearing sportswear uniforms and earned the "expert" license from the American Federation of Motorcyclists, and in March 2009, Lenz became the youngest rider ever to win an AFM race. This year, competing in the U.S. Grand Prix Racers Union series, Lenz had four wins, five podium finishes and was leading the MD250H classification in points. The grown-up resume just didn't match his appearance. Listed at 4-foot-11 and 81 pounds, the baby-faced Lenz described his profession as "kid."

His father's message on Peter's Facebook page was heartbreaking. "He passed doing what he loved and had his go fast face on as he pulled onto the track," the posting said. "The world lost one of its brightest lights today. God Bless Peter and the other rider involved. 45 [Peter's number] is on another road we can only hope to reach. Miss you kiddo." Lenz is the youngest driver/rider fatality ever at the 101-year-old Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Without blaming the victim in any way, the tragedy nonetheless raises the specter of age, and whether teens and pre-teens possess the necessary dexterity and presence of mind to pilot vehicles that can go more than 120 mph. Lenz was 13, and the racer whose bike ran over Lenz is only 12.

This accident raised the issue of how young is too young in racing competitions. Racers insist age has never been an issue. American Colin Edwards was running 250cc bikes at age 17, and Indy MotoGP runner-up Ben Spies was competing on the 125cc circuit at age 12.

"That's not like a bike too big for him, you know, I mean this is our sport, we chose to do it," said American Nicky Hayden, the 2006 world champ who called the death "terrible. I mean, sure, we know going in the consequences."

Surely the boy knew that the consequence for him was death.?

Rafael Nadal

He beat Novak Djokovic to win his first US Open and join six of the game's greatest players as the owner of all four grand slam titles. At the end, Nadal rolled like a kid on the hard court, the surface that was supposed to be beyond him. Now he ruled the tennis world. He is the first Spaniard to win the U.S. Open men’s singles title since Manuel Orantes in 1975 and the first left-hander to win it since John McEnroe in 1984.

Nadal's smile remained fixed in victory, more eloquent than a thousand words. "It's more than what I dreamt," he said in his charming, halting English. His ninth slam not only puts him seven behind the faltering Federer, but lifts him alongside Fred Perry, Don Budge, Rod Laver, Roy Emerson, Andre Agassi and Federer as owners of all the four slams.The US Open win will be Nadal's 9th Grand Slam Title. He also has won the last 3 consecutive slams, and will no doubt be looking to take the Australian Open as well, making it 4 out of 4 in slams, something that has not been achieved since Rod Laver did it in the late 60s.

Men Doubles

Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan

Twin brothers who won their ninth Grand Slam tournament and third U.S. Open title against Pakistan’s Aisamul Haq Qureshi and India’s Rohan Bopanna. They were the World No. 1 doubles player for 201 weeks. Between 2005 and 2006, they set an Open Era record by competing in seven consecutive men's doubles Grand Slam finals, three of which they won. On February 26, 2010, they recorded their Open Era record 600th match win by defeating Taylor Dent and Ryan Harrison in the semi-finals of the Delray Beach ATP 250 tournament. Born on April 29, 1978, with Mike being older by two minutes, and Bob taller by 3 cm, The Bryans, as they are known, have won a record 65 tour titles, surpassing The Woodies. They have a career Grand Slam that includes victories at the French Open (2003), US Open (2005, 2008 and 2010), Australian Open (2006, 2007, 2009 and 2010), and Wimbledon (2006). They won the Tennis Masters Cup Doubles tournament thrice (2003, 2004 and 2009), and have been finalists in 38 other occasions. They won the bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. They also won the 2007 Davis Cup along with Andy Roddick and James Blake.

Women Division

Kim Clijsters

"I'm glad to be standing here as the winner now. New York is an amazing place for me. The U.S. Open brings nothing but happiness to my tennis life."

She is the first woman since Venus Williams in 2000-01 to win the title in Flushing Meadows two years in a row. And Clijsters' U.S. Open winning streak is actually up to 21 matches because she also won the 2005 title. She missed the tournament in 2006 because of injuries, including wrist surgery, and skipped it the next two years while taking time off to get married and have a baby. Clijsters won a second consecutive U.S. Open championship and third overall by easily beating Vera Zvonareva 6-2, 6-1 in a final that lasted 59 minutes and lacked any drama — perfect for a tot's short attention span.

Women Doubles

Vania King and Yaroslava Shvedova

“It is kind of unbelievable for me. I don’t feel like we have won the title as it all happened so quickly today,” _Shvedova_

Vania King from America along with partner Yaroslava Shvedova from Kazakhstan won the United States Open Women’s doubles title after defeating Nadia Petrova and Liezel Huber in a total of three sets on Monday. The final match score was 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (4).

Mixed Double

Liezel Huber and Bob Bryan

Top-seeded Americans Liezel Huber and Bob Bryan won their second Grand Slam title in mixed doubles Thursday. Liezel Huber and Bob Bryan won their second Grand Slam mixed doubles title. The pair beat Kveta Peschke of the Czech Republic and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan 6-4, 6-4. Huber and Bryan also won last year's French Open. Huber, who was born in South Africa and became an American citizen in 2007.

Junior Division

Jack Sock and Daria Gavrilova

Jack Sock beat Denis Kudla 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 Sunday to win the U.S. Open boys’ title in the first all-American junior final at Flushing Meadows in a decade while top-seeded Daria Gavrilova beat Yulia Putintseva 6-3, 6-2 in an all-Russian girls’ final.

However those critics in fashion are still on to give their comments of the worst styles and most fashionable sportswear uniforms of the tennis players that catch their critical eyes and minds. Let's take a look on the result of the best and worst fashion at the 2010 US Open (1st round).

Let's start from the Worst:

Nadia Petrova
A Russian professional tennis player. In singles, Petrova has reached a career high ranking of World No. 3 in May 2006 and has reached the semi-finals of the French Open in 2003 and 2005. In doubles, she won the year-ending Sony Ericsson Championships in 2004 with Meghann Shaughnessy. However in the US Open 2010, she was beaten by Caroline Wozniack.

Too white

Aravane Rezaï
She is the current French No. 2 in women tennis. She has defeated many top players on the WTA, such as, Justine Henin, Jelena Janković, Dinara Safina, Caroline Wozniacki and Venus Williams. Her career high rank was No. 16, achieved on May 17, 2010. She was beaten by an 18 year-old, Beatrice Capra in the US Open 2010.

A Serbian professional tennis player, who is currently ranked the World No. 3. Lately he won against Viktor Troicki.

Kateryna Bondarenko
A professional female tennis player from Ukraine and a doubles champion at Australian Open 2008. She has progressed to the second round of the US Open 2010 - Grand Slam Tennis in New York with prize money of USD 22.6 million after defeating No.8-seeded Na Li.

Elena Dementieva
Russian professional tennis player. She has won two Olympic medals in singles, including the gold medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. She made a successful return to Grand Slam tennis Monday, beating Olga Govortsova of Belarus 6-1, 6-2 in the first round of the U.S. Open.

Peter Polansky
A Canadian professional tennis player. He is now Canada's top-ranked singles performer, according to the ATP, having been so since June 21, 2010. His U.S. Open experience ended Thursday night with a 6-7(1), 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 second-round loss to James Blake of the U.S.

A French professional male tennis player. He is currently the second highest ranked French tennis player, and currently ranked #17 in the world ATP tour rankings. He won against Igor Andreev.

A Russian professional tennis player. She won the 2004 US Open and the 2009 French Open singles titles defeating Elena Dementieva and Dinara Safina. This two-time major champion reached the second round at the U.S. Open by getting past 39-year-old Kimiko Date Krumm.

A Lithuanian professional tennis player. As of August 23, he is ranked No. 124 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and is the top ranked Lithuanian tennis player. He was beaten by Jurgen "Tuna" Melzer.

Many sports analysts, tennis critics, and former and current players consider Federer to be the greatest tennis player of all time.

A former World No.1 Serbian tennis player. As of August 30, 2010, she is ranked World No. 40 on the WTA rankings. She won the 2008 French Open and was the runner-up in singles at the 2007 French Open and the 2008 Australian Open.

The Legacy of the Bloodgate Scandal

Bad news is that many athletes in sportswear uniforms will prefer to win by cheating than to loss with honor. Perfect example is the "bloodgate scandal" which Tom Williams, an English rugby union player who plays for Harlequins became well known. He normally plays at either full-back or on the wing. However his fame was brought by cheating.

What happened?

During the 2008–09 Heineken Cup quarter final against Leinster, Williams faked a blood injury to allow a tactical substitution to reintroduce Nick Evans leading to the bloodgate scandal.

What is "Bloodgate Scandal"?

It was so called because of the use of fake blood capsules, and has been seen by some as one of the biggest scandals in rugby since professionalisation in the mid 1990s, indeed even as an argument against the professional ethics.

The Result
This resulted in a 12 month ban for Williams, (reduced to four months on appeal), a three year ban for former director of rugby Dean Richards and a two year ban for physiotherapist Steph Brennan from the ERC as well as a £260,000 fine for the club.

I definitely agree. This scandal up till now menace the sports world. Cheating in sports marks not just the athlete but the team itself. Even Mark Evans, chief executive of Harlequin FC can say:
"You would be incredibly naive to think (the Bloodgate stigma) will ever disappear completely. Things like that don't. They become part of history and, like good or bad seasons, are woven into the fabric of any club." Many people says that ‘If you ain’t cheating, you ain’t trying,’ but trying to cheat will lead to catastrophe just like what happen to "bloodgate". Still the end will never justifies the means.

The Danger of Sports to Rugby Players and Boxers

Professional rugby players and boxers are just two of the groups who may be suffering long-term damage from their chosen careers. Why is this so? A new study shows that athletes who receive repeated blows to the head could be of greater risk of developing dementia later in life. Scientists said they have found the strongest evidence yet that repeated concussions could cause nerve-degenerative diseases like Alzheimer's.

Researchers from the University of Rochester in New York studied autopsies of 12 athletes who died with brain or neurological disease. All had a newly characterized disease called chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, in which dementia set in years after repeated concussions. Three of the men were also diagnosed with ALS, a member of a family of diseases called motor neuron disease, which causes progressively worse paralysis. The researchers looked specifically for a protein called TDP-43. They found it in the brain and in the spinal cords of the men - which could explain the symptoms. Damaging one nerve can sometimes set off a cascade of other nerves dying, for reasons that remain poorly understood and TDP-43 could be involved. Experts in brain injury said the study, published in the Journal of Neuropathology & Experimental Neurology, pointed to new areas of research and possible ways to prevent long-term damage from concussions.

The findings also point to an urgent need to monitor soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, many of whom suffer brain injuries from explosions, accidents and blows to the head. ‘This is the first pathological evidence that repetitive head trauma experienced in collision sports might be associated with the development of a motor neuron disease,' said lead author Dr Ann McKee of Boston University School of Medicine. Drugs including the hormone progesterone, monoclonal antibodies and the antibiotic minocycline are being studied to see if they can stop the process of nerve destruction that follows injuries such as a blow to the head or stroke.

On the other hand I remember a certain case in my psychology class that disproved this. This is the case of Phineas Cage whose brain was really injured but survived and totally showed signs of being healthy physically. However there are some things that changed after he got that head injury. His personality turned form being friendly to being hostile. And because of his case psychologists and scientists and even people in lab coats and medical scrubs got the idea that brain and personality is related to each other. But his case was not repeated head blows but only one time head injury (but a really damaging head injury, eh), so still this study had proven some points.

Anyway as I see it, even without using this research, just by our common sense those players who bump their heads and have repeated blows on their heads are most likely to suffer illness with relation to their brain in the future. Thus men and women in sportswear uniforms must always be careful. Right?

Football has been one of the world's greatest sport. So since this is one of the most famous sport this will be the first kind of sport that I will post here in my blog.

So what is football and where did it originate?

Football is a kind of team sport which involves kicking a ball with the foot in an attempt to score a goal. (Personally, I wonder if they have sports and team wear eh). The most popular of these sports worldwide is association football, more commonly known "football" or "soccer". In each particular part of the world football has various names including American football, Australian rules football, Canadian football, Gaelic football, Rugby league, Rugby union and other related games.

This sport was also referred to a variety of games in medieval Europe which were played on foot.These games were usually played by peasants, as opposed to the horse-riding sports (such as polo) often played by aristocrats.

The Roman game harpastum is believed to have been adapted from a Greek team game known as "ἐπίσκυρος" (episkyros) or "φαινίνδα" (phaininda), which is mentioned by a Greek playwright, Antiphanes (388–311 BC) and later referred to by the Christian theologian Clement of Alexandria (c.150-c.215 AD). These games appear to have resembled rugby football. However, the main sources of modern football codes appear to lie in western Europe, especially England which is referred to as "mob football". This is played between neighbouring towns and villages which involved an unlimited number of players on opposing teams, who would clash in a heaving mass of people, struggling to move an item such as an inflated pig's bladder, to particular geographical points, such as their opponents' church.

However numerous attempts have been made to ban football games, particularly the most rowdy and disruptive forms. This was especially the case in England and in other parts of Europe, during the Middle Ages and early modern period. Between 1324 and 1667, football was banned in England alone by more than 30 royal and local laws. The need to repeatedly proclaim such laws demonstrated the difficulty in enforcing bans on popular games. King Edward II was so troubled by the unruliness of football in London that on April 13, 1314 he issued a proclamation banning it:

"Forasmuch as there is great noise in the city caused by hustling over large balls from which many evils may arise which God forbid; we command and forbid, on behalf of the King, on pain of imprisonment, such game to be used in the city in the future."

By 1608, the local authorities in Manchester were complaining that: "With the ffotebale...[there] hath beene greate disorder in our towne of Manchester we are told, and glasse windowes broken yearlye and spoyled by a companie of lewd and disordered persons ..."

That same year, the word "football" was used disapprovingly by William Shakespeare. Shakespeare's play King Lear contains the line: "Nor tripped neither, you base football player" (Act I, Scene 4). Shakespeare also mentions the game in A Comedy of Errors (Act II, Scene 1).
