The Best and Worst Sports Wear This Australian Open 2011

Last year I had posted here the worst dressed and best dressed during the US Open 2010. And since, the Australian open is going on and finally coming to end, maybe it’s not too late to give you the list of the tennis players that have the best sports wear and worst sports wear this Australian Open season.

Without further ado, here is the list of some of your favourite players that are fashionable enough/not enough to play:

Worst Sports Wear:

Caroline Wozniaki
Just look at the waistline of her ballet inspired sports wear dress...

Novak Djokovic
Black is black...

Lukasz Kubot
The stripes and combination of neon and gray... Whew!

Aravane Rezai
Just see for yourselves...

Anne Keothavong
Looks like the combination of the design and colors are not that great...

Fernando Verdasco
Watch out for his wristband...

Radek Stepanek
What a shirt!

David Nalbandian and Lleyton Hewitt
:(

Maria Sharapova
Funny, but she's one of my favorite since before. Gorgeous, hot and sporty and yet her sports wear this Australian Open showed different Sharapova. No wonder she lose her game..:(...

Venus Williams
I'm always amazed by her confidence and guts during her games and even when she put on her sports wears each tournament...

Best  Sports Wear:

Victoria Azarenka
Nice combination of pink, girly and yet sporty...

Dinara Safina
In fashion your still one of the winners...

Marcos Baghdatis
Great combination of white, black and neon...

Flavia Pannetta
Color +stripes= Wow!

Roger Federer
Classic style and combination. He is fashionable, as usual...

Sam Stosur
Who says that white is not good for fashion?

Andy Roddick
Solid and simple...

Smash it, Then Break it!

Sports is not all about being serious in the game but it can also be full of surprise and humor.

While returning a serve from Kimiko Date-Krumm in a first-round match Tuesday at the Australian Open, Agnieszka Radwanska saw her racquet split in two and break off at the neck. Watch it here.

Caroline Wozniaki's Sportswear Dress

The Australian Open has finally "opened"! With Rafael Nadal and Caroline Wozniacki holding the title for the World's top ranked tennis player, the matches and games that will be going to happen will be a great and anticipating sight to see. In the meantime, however, Roger Federer, the former World's no. 1 and now No. 2 tennis player, men division, had been with an easy match and easy game, winning against Lukas Lacko, making him the number one competitor of Rafa. While Wozniacki in her gorgeous sportswear, played her first Grand Slam with the No. 1 ranking, has advanced to the second round of the Australian Open with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Gisela Dulko of Argentina.

Speaking of Wozniaki's sportswear, unlike her gray armadillo dress last US open, she is now wearing Stella McCartney-designed ballerina dress. Tennis player in a ballerina dress, eh. Though the sportswear dress is more feminine than her dress last US open, it earned disapproval too, especially from some sports and fashion bloggers throughout the web. Let me quote one of those critics:

But then I looked again and saw the ridiculous waistline, which is jacked up Urkel-style and appears to be inspired by the edge of a birthday cake. (McCartney says she wanted the waistline to "redefine and challenge traditional sports silhouettes.") And then there's the pleating and the blood orange wrist bands. It's not bad, per se, but it's not exactly flattering either.

Wozniaki now(Aussie Open)

Let me remind you, dear readers, that tennis game is not just about sports but style nowadays.  Remember the criticism on Serena Williams’s sportswear or her sister’s dress? Well, the siblings didn’t mind anyway.  Though personally speaking, I didn’t mind the dress too, but the play. The play and the game matters most.  Thus, I’m looking forward for Rafa and Federer to play against each other and for Wozniaki on defending her title.  Guess, I’ll be blogging more on tennis updates the next time I post here.  So, till next time folks.

Amazing Sports Videos Last Year

Before the end of the year 2010, there are various sports videos that appeared and had been well-known. Consequently, many of us are familiar with them as "viral videos". They spread like virus and became as famous as pandemic diseases. They may however, not as dangerous as viruses but they can be considered as deadly as sportsmen in sports wear(lol).

And given that, I have been neglecting this blog since November, this post will be attributed to last year and as well as the beginning of my regular post (again) this year.

So, without so much ado, here are some of the videos of men and women wearing sports wear that made us laugh and cry last previous months of 2010.

The Driscoll Middle Scholl Trick Play

Bad sportsmanship yet still pretty impressive.

The Biggest Football Miss in History

See it for yourself..

Mascot Tackles

The best tackle in Ohio, eh.

Superman Leap

This player is a great fan of Superman.

Player with Downs Syndrome scores Touchdown

Hope this videos would inspire us this year for better viral videos on sports. God bless us this new year, folks.
